Dr. Jihan Abu Zeid is an Egyptian sociologist, researcher and regional expert specialising in women’s rights, gender equality, human rights and social development. Her work connects academic research with civil-society practice and policy dialogue across Egypt and the wider Arab region.
Over a career spanning research, training, advocacy and knowledge production, she has contributed to regional studies on gender-responsive governance, women’s political participation, gender-based violence, sustainable development and the impact of economic and technological change on women. She has worked with national, regional and international institutions and has participated in initiatives supporting more inclusive public policy.
She currently contributes to regional women’s-rights dialogue and research, including work with the Arab NGO Network for Development. Within the Organisation, she brings expertise on gender-sensitive policy, human security, social inclusion and the role of civil society in democratic and sustainable development.
